In the drought-prone marginal lands we work in, food security is a key issue.

Dabane Trust works with rural communities to improve food productivity through intensifying land and water management, and establishing low-cost irrigation systems.

Water is harvested and stored in tanks sited within each garden, and water loss is minimised by using organic manure and mulches. As seeds are drilled and manured in the same lines each season, the soil quality improves each year. Tilling (which can cause soil erosion) is not required.
